As a large segment of the population ages, nurse practitioner programs will increasingly provide care to seniors who would possibly otherwise go lacking care. Oft times, patients would rather have a nurse practitioner look after them. Insurance companies prefer to have their users use nurse practitioners because they are much less expensive. For many terrific reasons, this job is one of the best careers in the nursing field.

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse (RN – average salary for registered nurses.) which has gone the extra mile for certification. Nurse practitioners are accredited to do things that RNs can not do (like prescribe medicine). NPs, because of their certifications, are permitted to issue prescriptions for some medicines. Many patients take advantage of the care provided by a nurse practitioner program graduate as it’s more patient focused as opposed to disease centered. A nurse practitioner is much more than just a health worker, they get to know their patients personally and attempt to provide the best-quality care they’re able to.

Some nurse practitioner program graduates have opened their own practices to provide similar care, but within a facility. If you are RNs, make sure you join a nurse practitioner program online today.

Why wouldn’t you wish to be a doctor after finishing the nurse practitioner program? Because nurse practitioners like the freedom their position provides, instead of the constraints of a hospital. Medical students are increasingly turning to specific medicine, which will leave an acute scarcity in licensed family physicians to tend to individuals and families. A nurse practitioner can give exactly the same care that a family physician can. Lots of nurse practitioners get certified in a specialty area, such as psychiatry, to improve their usefulness and earning potential as a health care provider.

A nurse practitioner must already possess a certification as a registered nurse. In order to wrap up your nurse practitioner program, you must have a master’s in nursing. Some NPs obtain their PhDs in nursing. The accredited online colleges will provide you with a way to enroll in a nurse practitioner program as you work.
