                                Presidents Message

                                Alejandro Rangel

Congratulations and thank you to all N.L.P.O.A. Ventura County Chapter Board Members, Chapter Members, Supporters, Friends, and Organizations who donated to our chapter!  Our first two years in existence were eventful, productive, and we made memories.

In brief, under Israel Rodriguez brief time as our president we formed and became a recognized chapter by the NLPOA.  Under Ralph Nieves presidency we sponsored two 5K runs (Barrio Run and the Menudo Run), a banquet where we gave four $500.00 scholarships, we participated in various events that included a Dia De Los Muertos parade in the La Colonia Neighborhood (Oxnard), and we taught a Crime Scene Investigation course for LULAC/Oxnard College Youth Conference.  We attended and supported the Mexican American Bar Association event as well as the Easter Seals Early Intervention Program Sponsored by our friends at Century 21 Tri-Star.

The next two years will be just as exciting, eventful, and productive.  As we continue to expand on our existing programs we will also focus our efforts on developing new fundraisers and in other cities in Ventura County.

Areas of focus for the chapter will be member recruitment, lure and recruit law enforcement candidates who are Spanish bi-lingual and who are culturally competent.  To invest in ourselves by sponsoring career enhancing seminars that will prepare us for positions in supervision and management.  We will use the expertise of our members to develop partnerships with Spanish language communities/organizations to provide crime prevention information, information pamphlets to those who have been victims of a crime, and to provide an insight to the inner workings of the criminal justice system.  Finally, we will recruit high school students and college students to the chapter who are considering a career in law enforcement.

For more information regarding our organization, please feel free to call me at 805-385-8241.

"We will never achieve anything great in our organization unless we dare to believe that something inside us is bigger than the circumstances we face. Our mission is to invest in ourselves, give others hope, and to equip them for greatness."
